You're invited to dinner.

This month we're cooking with sound, music, and party, in celebration of our very first Potluck dinner. Loose interpretation encouraged.

How it works

Every month I pick a theme with a few categories. Everyone goes off and makes something, then drops it off before the night of the dinner party, so I can set the table and check everything over first. On dinner night, I put it all out on the table.

After the party, since we're expecting a lot of dishes, I'll leave them on the party table for a day or two before folding your dish in with all the others.

That's it. No voting, no leaderboard. Just a bigger table than usual, for one night.

You don't have to wait

I'm still putting new dishes on the table every single day. Sound, music, party, or anything else, submit whenever you're ready and it goes up like normal. The dinner party isn't a gate, it's just an extra spotlight for one night.

If you'd rather hold onto the surprise, there's a checkbox on the submission form: "Save until the dinner party." Check it and I'll set your dish aside and reveal it on October 1st instead of putting it up right away. Totally optional, and only makes sense if you actually want that reveal moment.

Bring your recipe, if you want

I'd encourage you to add a few instructions inside your app so people know what they're looking at. And if you're comfortable, share your recipe inside it too: totally optional, but it means someone else can copy it and make their own version of the dish. Think deviled eggs, then deviled eggs with bacon.

My own Blabberbox 3000 does this. Open the app, scroll to the bottom, tap "Open the Back," and the code is right there to copy. That's the pattern, if you want a working example to build from.

Who's invited

This is for people making stuff for fun: hobbyists, tinkerers, folks with a side project and no plans to sell anything. Try to avoid sign-ins if you can. If you've been meaning to build something and just needed an excuse, this is it.
